Best Buy Theater Halo Reach Midnight Release Experience

Posted by zerofigures on September 14, 2010

So Halo Reach comes out today.  For some reason I think that productivity around the world is going to drop drastically.  I know I for one have taken the day off, not to play the game but to rest and wait for it to arrive by UPS.  Last night I attended the midnight release in New York at the Best Buy Theater in Time Square, formerly the Nokia Theater.  If you were there, I was the guy in the army green “I am Master Chief” (from the Halo 3 midnight launch) shirt.

HLJ is having a Huge Yamato Sale

Posted by zerofigures on September 10, 2010

Title says it all , HLJ is having a huge Yamato Sale.  If I didn’t already have a majority of the figures from Yamato I wanted I’d be all over this.  Here are a few highlights…

SIF EX Velvet

SIF EX Mercedes PVC

Creators’ Labo Blassreiter Amanda Werner PVC

Creators’ Labo #012 Non-Non PVC

Creators’ Labo Emaretta-chan PVC

Creators’ Labo Emaretta Black Armor Ver. PVC

Medusa’s Gaze PVC

I own 5 out of those 7, with the exception of Mercedes and Emaretta Black Armor, and they are all wonderful pieces.

About 2 weeks ago I was kicking my self  for running to Japan when the 1:1 Gundam was built in Odaiba.  Why oh why did I have to go then, why couldn’t I have held off my trip a couple months for the Shizuoka build.  Because no one knew that’s why, no one knew it would end up at Shizuoka, at least I didn’t.  Either way I was struggling to figure out how I would get some exclusives from the Shizuoka Exclusive Gundam event.  I contacted my usual proxy but he produced nothing.

Saddened and unwilling to deal with ebay, I jokingly left a comment on Gundam Guy’s blog telling him to bring some things back from his trip to Japan.  To my surprise he actually responded and had the items!  Turns out that GG will be getting into the business of selling Gundam.  His site will be opening soon, I believe he is aiming for early October.

I however, with my special request, was able to place my order and am happy to announce that it arrived today, in mint condition.  The items were packed securely I wasn’t overcharged for shipping.  GG was very easy to deal with and answered all of my questions quickly and clearly.  I urge all Gundam fans to support a fellow Gundam fan when the opportunity arises, you never know what exclusives you may find.  GGInfinite has got my vote.  Thanks again GG.

My HGUC RX-93-v2 Gundam Build

Posted by zerofigures on September 8, 2010

While I’ve built a number of Gundam in the past, I’ve yet to do a write up or take pictures of any.  This weekend I decided to grab a kit and document the build. While this is not exactly a review, I’ll be giving thoughts on the kit as I went along.  I pick up Gundam according to those that feel look cool and have a cool set of accessories.  I have no dedication to any particular series.  I do not own, or plan to own any Zaku, but only time can tell.

When I build my Gundam, I do the regular lining and try to build them as clean as possible, removing all nubs.  This is the first kit that I have used files on and man does it make a difference.  From the days of my HG Freedom Gundam when I had no tools at all and used a nail clipper to remove parts from the runners and nubs from the parts, I can truly say, I’ve come a long way.  While not many, I’ve invested in an assortment of markers, clippers, tweezers  and files in recent months.  My build won’t involve painting or modifying in any way (unless I break something accidentally), so just consider mine, the Lazy Man’s Gundam (not to call other who don’t paint or modify lazy, I just like the term.  Straight builds, as clean as possible is what I strive for.

I originally picked this kit up while in Japan July of 2009.  While in the shop looking at the box, I liked the suit, color scheme and the price (Sticker is on the box, can you make out the store?).  I also picked up the RX-78-4, HG RX-78-2 and BB SD RX-78-2 seen in a previous post. On to the build!
